Juba, 20 Sept 2011 – The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (17³Ô¹ÏÍø) today welcomed the Government's statement that it had taken action against members of the South Sudan Police Service, who were responsible for an assault on one of 17³Ô¹ÏÍø staff members on 20 August.
17³Ô¹ÏÍø peacekeepers united with local authorities, lecturers and students to clean-up the university in Wau, promoting a cleaner and safer environment for learning as well as building community togetherness and pride.
17³Ô¹ÏÍø peacekeepers and community members in Yambio launched a collective clean-up campaign, removing a mountain of garbage from the central city, that was not only threatening the environment but also the health and wellbeing of residents.
