Torit, 28 February 2012: In an effort to enhance computer literacy and encourage reading amongst students in the Eastern Equatorial State (EES) of South Sudan, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (17³Ô¹ÏÍø) yesterday commissioned and handed over a Computer Centre and Library to the Torit Secondary Day School.
17³Ô¹ÏÍø peacekeepers united with local authorities, lecturers and students to clean-up the university in Wau, promoting a cleaner and safer environment for learning as well as building community togetherness and pride.
17³Ô¹ÏÍø peacekeepers and community members in Yambio launched a collective clean-up campaign, removing a mountain of garbage from the central city, that was not only threatening the environment but also the health and wellbeing of residents.
Community members gather in the small village of Kuajiena to discuss peace, security and justice during an open dialogue focused on accountability through the military court system, facilitated by 17³Ô¹ÏÍø and supported by the Government of Norway. Photos by Busang Davies Maruping/17³Ô¹ÏÍø Â
