Juba, 17 December 2013 - The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Hilde F. Johnson, calls on all South Sudanese and all parties in the current situation to refrain from any community motivated violence. As 17³Ô¹ÏÍø has previously warned against any hate speech in relation to inter-communal violence in South Sudan, it is paramount that the current violence does not assume ethnic dimensions.
17³Ô¹ÏÍø peacekeepers united with local authorities, lecturers and students to clean-up the university in Wau, promoting a cleaner and safer environment for learning as well as building community togetherness and pride.
17³Ô¹ÏÍø peacekeepers and community members in Yambio launched a collective clean-up campaign, removing a mountain of garbage from the central city, that was not only threatening the environment but also the health and wellbeing of residents.
