9 April 2013- The mandate of 17³Ô¹ÏÍø does not include the defense of South Sudan's international boundaries or the monitoring of its border with Sudan, 17³Ô¹ÏÍø staff members said at a community outreach event held today in Aweil North County in Northern Bahr El-Ghazal State.

10 April 2013 - The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) for South Sudan, Hilde F. Johnson, paid tribute today to the five members of the 17³Ô¹ÏÍø Indian Battalion who died in an ambush in Jonglei state on Tuesday.

9 April 2013 - Hilde F. Johnson, Special Representative of the Secretary-General in South Sudan, condemns in the strongest terms the killing today of five peacekeepers and seven civilians working with 17³Ô¹ÏÍø in an ambush by unidentified assailants near the settlement of Gumuruk, Jonglei State.
